Craft & Canvas

Growing up on the North Shore of Minnesota, the rugged beauty of the landscape wasn’t just a backdrop- it was a way of life. My days are shaped by the rhythm of the woods and the water. Whether I am hunting the dense forests or fishing the rocky streams or working with my hands as a carpenter. This deep physical connection to the region is the foundation of my artwork.

As both a carpenter and a painter, I view creation as a form of building. Where timber and nails construct a physical space, oil and canvas recreate the atmosphere of the places that speak to my heart. The discipline, patience, and eye for detail in carpentry influence how I approach a blank canvas, allowing me to build layers of texture and light with purpose.

My artwork is an extension of my time spent outdoors. Hunting and fishing require a unique kind of patience and observation - watching the way early morning mist rises off the water, how the late afternoon sun cuts through the pine canopy. These fleeting moments are what I seek to capture.

Working with oil on canvas in an impressionistic style I focus on the mood and energy of Northern Minnesota. I rely on bold brushstrokes and rich textures that bring these local scenes to life.
